Big Update On The Kevin Owens - Shane McMahon Feud

Last night's WWE SmackDown saw the feud between Kevin Owens and SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon explode after Shane attacked Owens. Following a back & forth between the two on the mic, Owens mentioned how Shane's family, especially his kids, would have been better off if he didn't survive the recent helicopter crash that he was in. That led to Shane attacking Owens and brawling over the announce table with him. Owens later told SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan that he was going to sue Shane, WWE and every member of the McMahon family, turning SmackDown into The Kevin Owens Show. Owens also mentioned taking out criminal charges on Shane.

Vince McMahon later called General Manager Daniel Bryan on the phone and ordered him to suspend Shane indefinitely.

The animosity between Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon has reached its boiling point, and only one person can perhaps put an end to it: Mr. McMahon!

The WWE Chairman and CEO will be at Sin City SmackDown next week to address the bad blood between his son and KO, which boiled over Tuesday night on SmackDown LIVE. After Shane attempted to stop Owens from again making himself referee for a match, KO crossed the line by insulting Shane's family.

The insults sent Shane over the edge, as he immediately pummeled Owens, tackled him over the announce desk and continued to throw haymakers before finally being pulled off by officials and arena security. After Owens threatened to sue WWE and the entire McMahon family and press criminal charges against Shane, Mr. McMahon phoned SmackDown LIVE General Manager Daniel Bryan with a difficult decision that had to be made: The Chairman suspended Shane indefinitely as SmackDown LIVE Commissioner.

Though Daniel Bryan thought that would have ended the situation, it was not enough for Owens, who vowed to make Sin City SmackDown his personal playground and Bryan's personal nightmare. KO said there was nothing Bryan could do about it, to which Bryan agreed, but quickly notified Owens of Mr. McMahon's intentions for next week.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, he expects Vince McMahon to announce some sort of Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens match (possibly Hell In A Cell Match) for a future PPV. This is likely to happen now since Shane is suspended and no longer in a position of authority and thus would be able to compete as a wrestler.

Vince McMahon made his first WWE SmackDown appearance since 2013 on last night's SmackDown! LIVE from Las Vegas and confronted Kevin Owens after the recent beef between Owens and suspended SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon.

Vince took shots at Owens for threatening a lawsuit and reinstated Shane, then announcing Shane vs. Owens for the October 8th WWE Hell In a Cell pay-per-view. That match will take place inside the Cell. Shane vs. Owens and Shinsuke Nakamura vs. WWE Champion Jinder Mahal are the only matches confirmed for the HIAC pay-per-view as of this writing.

The segment between Owens and Vince ended with Owens busting Vince open with a headbutt. Owens then kicked Vince in the ribs while he was down and finished the attack with a Frogsplash from the top rope. Owens left while Vince was helped to the back by referees, officials, medics and Stephanie McMahon.

Title Change On Last Night's WWE SmackDown

The New Day defeated The Usos in a Sin City Street Fight to become the new SmackDown Tag Team Champions on last night's SmackDown from Las Vegas.

Kofi Kingston and Big E represented the team in tonight's win. Xavier Woods is still recovering from an injury but the storyline was that he stayed in the back because The New Day did not want to give The Usos any excuses for why they lost. Woods did join Kofi and Big E for the post-match celebration.

The New Day are now four-time Tag Team Champions but this their second run with the blue brand belts. The Usos won the titles back on August 20th during the SummerSlam Kickoff pre-show by defeating Kofi and Big E.

The match has not bee confirmed by WWE but Baron Corbin mentioned on last night's WWE SmackDown that he will be facing WWE United States Champion AJ Styles in the US Title Open Challenge on next Tuesday's show in Oakland, CA. This week's SmackDown saw AJ retain over Tye Dillinger. Corbin tried to interfere in that match but beat down both AJ and Dillinger after the match.

Backstage News On Kevin Owens Busting Open Vince McMahon On WWE SmackDown Live

As seen on SmackDown Live this past Tuesday night, Kevin Owens attacked Vince McMahon, which left the WWE CEO bloodied and being assisted to the back by Stephanie McMahon and other officials.

The attack started with Vince taking shots at Owens and threatening to bankrupt Owens with legal fees if Owens decided to file a lawsuit against WWE for Shane McMahon attacking him last week. Vince reinstated Shane and announced Shane vs. Owens for the Hell In A Cell pay-per-view on October 8th.

Owens agreed and had Vince promise that he could beat a McMahon senseless if he was provoked. Vince agreed, and Owens responded by headbutting him, which busted Vince open. Owens followed the headbutt by kicking Vince in the ribs and a superkick before ending the assault with a Frog Splash from the top rope.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Vince getting busted open was planned. The hypocrisy of the angle was noted, as other wrestlers have been fined for juicing. Batista was fined $100,000 for bleeding in a cage match with Chris Jericho in 2008.

It is unknown just how the cut happened. While there is a chance that the blood could have been a result of a hardway shot, Meltzer noted that it was unlikely because you can't guarantee blood from a single headbutt. Meltzer wrote that people that he spoke to that have been in the business for decades believe that Vince bladed before the segment and covered it up with nu-skin, which would lead to the wound re-opening with a lot of blood. It was noted that you could see the difference in the skin where the cut was opened from a close-up freeze frame.

WWE.com issued a storyline update on Vince on Wednesday, stating that following the attack, he did not give comment and refused to be looked at by medical staff.

We reported last week that the Vince McMahon - Kevin Owens headbutt spot on last Tuesday's SmackDown Live was planned for Vince to get busted open, according to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer. It was speculated that Vince bladed before the segment and covered it up with nu-skin, which would lead to the wound re-opening with a lot of blood.

Meltzer confirmed on last night's Wrestling Observer Radio that it was indeed what happened, however it is believed that Vince used Vaseline instead of nu-skin to cover the cut. Meltzer added that the original plan was for Stephanie McMahon to come to the ring with a towel. Vince was supposed to be bleeding all over the towel, which is why she came out.

WWE.com issued a storyline update on Vince on Wednesday, stating that following the attack, he did not give comment and refused to be looked at by medical staff.

Meltzer noted the recklessness of the angle, stating that Vince's memory "is really bad now" and that hopefully he doesn't pay for it sooner or later in life.

Vince McMahon Cancels Major WrestleMania Angle

As I already reported via my dirtysheets.net sources, Vince McMahon was heavily involved in making changes on Tuesday at the SmackDown taping. However, our sources have now informed us about a major angle story-line that was scrapped, with WrestleMania implications- centering around his son Shane’s WrestleMania plans.

Shane is currently embroiled in a feud with Kevin Owens, whom he he will face in a Hell in a Cell match at the Hell in the Cell PPV. This was announced by the chairman of the board last Tuesday, however, the initial plans were for the stakes to be MUCH higher.

The original plans were NOT for Vince McMahon to be so confrontational towards Owens, as he was initially set to negotiate with him and make him an offer. The offer was to face Shane McMahon in a match where Shane’s WWE shares would be at stake. After Owens agreed, McMahon would have informed him that it would be a Hell in a Cell match. The story-line was set to play out with as follows:

- Vince would set up the Hell in a Cell.
- Owens would face Shane and defeat him with the help of Triple H.
- Owens would give his shares to Triple H who would replace Shane on SmackDown- leaving Shane with zero stake in WWE.
- Shane would return a few months later to begin a WrestleMania program with Triple H.

After scrapping BOTH the Horsewomen vs Horsewomen angle and reducing the stakes of Shane vs Owens, McMahon decided that he would have to take a beating from Kevin Owens, feeling that the show needed a big angle. The beating we saw was added at the last minute.

Shane and Owens will meet in a Hell in a Cell match on October 8th. It is unknown if Triple H vs Shane is entirely scrapped or why Vince decided to change plans.

Despite previous issues, our sources tell us the relationship between Shane and Paul Levesque has vastly improved in the last year or so. Triple H is heavily involved in SmackDown and regularly works with Shane. It appears they were completely fine with working with each other, however, despite clearing the story-line initially months ago, McMahon has changed his mine.

McMahon’s indecisive nature is something we are becoming all to familiar with. Full articles can be written on changes he’s made to story-lines, possibly even books. This why the likes of Dave Meltzer are often left with egg on their face when they report plans that never materialize on TV.

WWE officials internally are reportedly denying that Vince McMahon bladed during his segment with Kevin Owens on SmackDown Live last week, which saw McMahon bleeding after Owens headbutted him. It was speculated that the segment was planned for McMahon to bleed and that he bladed before the segment and covered it up with nu-skin, which would lead to the wound re-opening with a lot of blood.

Dave Meltzer is reporting in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE is internally claiming that McMahon didn't blade and there was no blood planned for the segment. It was noted that it was similar to their statements regarding hardways in Brock Lesnar matches.

It was reported that the people involved in setting up the angle said that there was no talk before the angle about McMahon bleeding and how to shoot it. Meltzer added that nobody in WWE was talking about McMahon getting busted open before the segment and it just happened.

Meltzer noted that he watched the segment on a big screen and in the close-ups you could see a line going down Vince's forehead and the cut opened on that line after Owens delivered the headbutt. There was also more blood than would be expected from a headbutt. Meltzer added that people skeptical of the story note that if McMahon wouldn't tell anyone if he did blade.
