Several weeks ago, WWE talent Bo Dallas disappeared from TV with the Miz issuing him a get well soon message. Miz was telling the truth as the word backstage at Raw this week was that Dallas has been kept at home due to illness.

PWInsider.com has also learned that Bray Wyatt (Dallas' brother) and ring announcer JoJo (who dates Wyatt) have been kept at home as well in what appears to be a preventive move in case they may have also been exposed to the illness.

Bray Wyatt is slated to wrestle Finn Balor this Sunday at WWE TLC.

Justin LaBar of the Pittsburgh Tribune tweeted that he has heard the illness Bo and the others are dealing with is viral meningitis, though he has no information on Bray's status for this Sunday's PPV. Depending on the severity, symptoms can last from 7-10 days to several months.

When asked about Wyatt's status for this weekend, one contact in WWE said that at this time, the company expects Bray Wyatt to be available for his TLC match against Finn Balor.

Reason why Tom Phillips was not on WWE Smackdown Live

We’ve been getting emails from readers asking about Tom Phillips’ absence from this week’s episode of WWE Smackdown Live. On this week’s show, Michael Cole filled in and briefly mentioned that Phillips was out on assignment. That led to speculation that Phillips may have quit or is on bad terms with the company.

Actually, Phillips and new wife Renee were married on Saturday and they were given time off for their honeymoon. Phillip will be back for this coming Tuesday’s episode of Smackdown Live.

Earlier this month, Phillips filled in for Michael Cole so that Cole could attend his son’s wedding. Hopefully, this update will help shut down any rumors floating around about Phillips’ WWE status.

Exclusive Details On The Illness Affecting WWE

Wrestling Inc. can confirm that WWE is testing members of the RAW roster for the mumps. WWE had apparently originally tested some talent for viral meningitis, and discovered that the illness is believed to be the mumps.

Mumps is an airborne virus that can be spread by saliva or utensils - even plates or cups - with an infected person. It can also be spread by coughing or sneezing. Symptoms usually take 16-18 days to appear. It then usually takes several days to a week to disappear.

It will be interesting to see how WWE handles the testing, because once talent is tested, they can't work until the results are back.

It is not known if SmackDown talent will also be tested for the virus.

WWE Responds To Wrestling Inc. Story About RAW Wrestlers Being Tested For The Mumps

The WWE has issued a response to WrestlingInc.com owner Raj Giri's exclusive story about the company testing members of the RAW roster for the mumps. In an email, a WWE official sent a link to a press release announcing major changes to Sunday's TLC pay-per-view and later sent this official statement:

"We have confirmed that three of our performers have been diagnosed with a viral infection. As a precautionary measure, we are ensuring in-ring performers and staff are tested and immunized in accordance with recommended medical guidelines."

As reported earlier, Kurt Angle will be replacing Roman Reigns in the main event, teaming with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose to face the team of Braun Strowman, The Miz, Sheamus and Cesaro, and Kane in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match. AJ Styles will replace Bray Wyatt in a match against "The Demon" Finn Balor.

WWE had apparently originally tested some talent for viral meningitis, and discovered that the illness is believed to be the mumps. Mumps usually takes several days to a week to disappear, so it is unclear how long the infected superstars will be out of action. Since the infected superstars are part of the RAW roster, it is not yet known if SmackDown talent will also be tested for the virus.

From the WWE Rumor Mill: Survivor Series Plans for Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns needed to be pulled from the TLC pay-per-view event which eliminated The Shield's comeback. But The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports state that there could still be some big plans for Roman Reigns if he can recover from the mumps in time.

Roman Reigns has been chosen as a future top face in WWE for quite a long time now. The Shield's reformation was supposed to cement him as a babyface so when he goes for Brock Lesnar's Universal Championship on the Road To WrestleMania he will be overwhelmingly cheered.

Of course, viral infections had other plans and Reigns was pulled from the TLC match. It all turned out okay in the end because fans got to enjoy the in-ring WWE return of Kurt Angle. But The Big Dog was left sitting at home while the early stages of Survivor Series were being built.

It's still not too late for Roman Reigns to make a comeback and return to action in time for a spot at Survivor Series. Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that everyone who tested positive for the recent viral infection is set to be reassessed on Monday, October 30th. This will include Roman Reigns and there are a lot of fingers crossed that he will be cleared for an in-ring return.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter also notes if Reigns is cleared for a return then he will likely be placed as the leader of Team Raw during the annual Survivor Series event. Since Roman Reigns' Shield brethren are busy facing The Usos at Survivor Series there is little chance of a Shield reunion happening at Survivor Series at this time.

But even though the big Shield reunion might have been ruined by a case of the mumps, there are still plans for Reigns if he received the right results from his doctor.

Survivor Series is set to be lit. Even if Roman Reigns isn't cleared for a return to action by the time it would take him to be inserted into a story doesn't mean he still can't get involved. After all, it's there are still a few weeks to plan out something for Roman Reigns because there's always room for him on the card if he's fit to be used.

For those who have asked, we are told Roman Reigns is not yet cleared to return to the ring and will not be at this week's TV tapings or this week's European tour. WWE changed lineups over the weekend to remove the Shield reunion and replace certain main events with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins defending the Raw Tag Team championships, so it was obvious Reigns wouldn't be wrestling.

One source told me the hope internally is that he will be recovered from his illness by Survivor Series.

Bray Wyatt and Roman will miss the UK Raw show, just 13 days before the Survivor Series PPV. With the pair also both being off last night's Raw, we are being told that it’s highly likely that Bray Wyatt will be left off the Survivor Series entirely. Prior to falling ill, Wyatt was already not scheduled to be appearing on WWE TV tapings, due to his pending divorce proceedings.

However, our sources have indicated to us that the company are STILL hoping that Roman Reigns will return to Raw on the Survivor Series go-home show and will still be shoe-horned into the Raw Survivor Series team. This is likely to infuriate UK fans, as Shield six-man tag matches were advertised for every show on the UK Tour. Bray Wyatt returned to the ring on Wednesday, over one week after missing TLC due to an illness, and he went up against a star-powered trio.

Wyatt teamed with The Bar at a live event in Glasgow and they faced-off against The Shield, who had granted Triple H an honorary spot in the group.

As we previously reported, Bray and Roman Reigns were unable to wrestle at TLC due to viral illnesses they both caught. His brother Bo Dallas, who had been sick as well, also returned this week.

No word on whether Wyatt’s feud with Finn Balor will resume.
