Ric Flair & World Wrestling Entertainment trennen sich - Vertrag aufgelöst!

Wie vor wenigen Stunden auf wwe.com bekannt wurde, werden Ric Flair und World Wrestling Entertainment künftig getrennte Wege gehen. Beide Parteien sollen sich auf diesen Schritt geeinigt haben. Der "Nature Boy" reiste in den letzten Wochen quer durch die Staaten und repräsentierte die McMahon-Company bei allerlei Veranstaltungen. Aufgrund seines vollen Terminkalenders bei der Company musste er in der Vergangenheit aber auch zahlreiche andere Bookings absagen, unter anderem sogar die Teilnahme an der Zeremonie zu seiner eigenen NWA Hall Of Fame Aufnahme. Ob dies jedoch wirklich der Grund für die Trennung ist, ist momentan noch nicht bekannt.

The Gillespie Agency, which represents WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair for personal appearances, began contacting promoters who had been previously turned down for Flair appearances with the following via email this weekend:

"Ric Flair is no longer under contract with WWE. It was a friendly parting which will allow Ric to pursue things that were rejected by WWE in the past. And it will mean a more streamlined process than ever before. Just you guys and me and Ric. Let’s pull something together and make some money!"

We don't have any further information at this time, but I do know Flair was forced to give up a series of appearances via the National Wrestling Alliance, including an NWA Hall of Fame induction, at WWE's request. He was also forced to turn down additional appearances, including a signing appearance for Ring of Honor in New York City, so it appears on the surface to be a case where both sides agreed that it was best to part ways so Flair can maximize his potential earnings for appearances.

While the parting is shocking on the surface, especially given the huge sendoff World Wrestling Entertainment gave Flair during Wrestlemania weekend, it's not without historic precedent. WWE does have history of letting Flair out of his contract to work on other endeavors. In 1991, Vince McMahon verbally promised to release Flair from his contractual obligations if he was ever moved out of a main event position. When that move was made in 1993, Flair received an offer from WCW and was released from his WWF deal per the verbal agreement.

According to sources I've spoken to, Flair will no longer be contractually prevented from entering inside a wrestling ring during appearances going forward, as WWE had previous prohibited. This could technically open the door for Flair working as a manager/referee, doing training seminars, or (and while I will say right now this is highly unlikely, one never knows) wrestling down the line.

Flair is scheduled to appear tonight on "Got Game" on the Charlotte, NC FOX affiliate tonight at 10:30 PM to discuss his upcoming appearance at the NWA Legends convention. If anyone sees the appearance tonight and would like to send a report, please feel free, especially if he touches upon his WWE status.

As irony has it, the September theme for WWE 24/7 is Ric Flair. My gut feeling is that if WWE needed Flair to appear on their behalf down the line, chances are it would happen, but contractually, the sides have parted.

This gives me the chance to pursue new opportunities...corporate speaking engagements, product sponsorships, autograph shows for my loyal fans (who made me what I am today) and film and television roles. My agent and I are very excited about what the future holds!

Wie Dave Meltzer schon gestern auf fw4online.com & im PWInsider Elite-Bereich berichtete haben sich World Wrestling Entertainment und Ric Flair in beiderseitigem Einvernehmen getrennt.

Wie die „Gillespy Agency“, welche Ric Flair seit geraumer Zeit in PR-Angelegenheiten unterstützt und vertritt, bekannt gegeben hat wurden viele Promoter & Interessenten eines Auftritts des 16-fachen World Champions wieder aktiv angeschrieben, die in den letzten Wochen enttäuscht werden mussten. Der Wortlaut in der Mail lautete wie folgt: „Ric Flair ist nicht länger vertraglich an WWE gebunden. Beide Parteien haben sich einvernehmlich getrennt, so dass Ric in Zukunft Auftritte wahrnehmen kann, die ihm durch den WWE Vertrag nicht gestattet waren.“

In den letzten Wochen war es so, dass Ric Flair diverse Anfragen, u.a. von der National Wrestling Alliance & Ring Of Honor, hatte um dort aufzutreten, aber die WWE hat beide Anfragen abgelehnt und so durfte Flair weder an der 2008er Version der NWA Hall Of Fame teilnehmen noch eine Autogrammstunde bei Ring Of Honor in New York City abhalten. Auf den ersten Blick sieht es nach einem Agreement aus, damit Flair die maximale Anzahl an Anfragen wahrnehmen kann, da es ja auch um einen Haufen Geld geht.

Desweiteren ist bekannt geworden, dass es nicht das erste Mal ist, dass Vince McMahon Ric Flair aus seinem Vertrag entlässt, damit der „Nature Boy“ andere Jobs wahrnehmen kann, denn schon 1991 hatte die damalige World Wrestling Federation Ric Flair verbal zugesagt, dass er, falls er aus dem Main Event-Slot entfernt werden sollte, die Company verlassen kann. Als dies 1993 dann der Fall war wurde er auch aus seinem Vertrag entlassen und heuerte bei World Championship Wrestling in Atlanta, Georgia an.

Durch die nun vollzogene Trennung darf Ric Flair bei Auftritten auch in den Ring steigen – sei es für Manager/Referee-Zwecke oder evtl. gar für Matches oder nur Trainingseinheiten, was ihm von der WWE immer strengstens untersagt wurde.

Ebenfalls hat sich Ric Flair selber zu der Trennung von World Wrestling Entertainment geäußert. In einem Statement ließ er verlauten, dass er sehr erpicht darauf ist, dass der Zug nun ins Rollen kommt und er u.a. neue Sponsoren gewinnen kann oder diverse Autogrammstunden für seine loyalen Fans vollziehen kann ohne die er nicht das wäre, was er heute ist. Auch spricht er an, dass die Trennung, welche in gutem Sinne vollzogen wurde, ihm die Möglichkeit gibt in Film & Fernsehen zu arbeiten, ohne dass die WWE ihm dort irgendwie etwas verbieten könnte. Seine Agentin und er freuen sich auf die zukünftigen Aktivitäten waren die letzten Worte seines Statements.
