Hier die Original-Meldung von Ring Of Honor:
There are very few men that command attention when they enter a room like “Action” Ortiz. At 6’1”, 330 lbs, Ortiz made his professional wrestling debut on February 2, 2014 at National Pro Wrestling Day and has been using a winning combination of speed, power, and surprising agility to defeat opponents across the country.
As a mixed martial artist, Ortiz has a winning record in cage and Muai Thai competition and was the very first graduate of Tommy Dreamer’s House of Hardcore school. Dreamer has been impressed by his premier student. “I’m very proud of Ben “Action” Ortiz being in ROH top prospect tournament. That tournament has produced some of the better in ring talents in wrestling,” Dreamer told ROHWrestling.com.
Dreamer did not shy away from conjuring up comparisons to some of the all-time greats: “Ben has a MMA background and has fought in several kick boxing fights. He is the real deal. Ben reminds me of Bam Bam Bigelow and Samoa Joe. Given the right platform Ben will be the next big thing in the wrestling business.”
Ortiz, with his MMA background, presents a nightmare match-up for the other seven competitors in the Top Prospect Tournament. At 330 lbs, Ortiz has displayed that he is as light on his feet as some of the world’s best cruiserweights while displaying power and explosiveness seen in stars like ROH legend Takeshi Morishima. This well-rounded skill set makes Ortiz a huge mountain to climb for any competitor big, small, strong, or fast.
Ardent fans of Ring of Honor may recognize Ortiz as part of the gauntlet that B.J. Whitmer set for his young boy Colby Corino back in June at Terminal 5. While Ortiz ultimately did not compete that evening, Ortiz’s abilities have caught the eye of Whitmer, ROH Matchmaker Nigel McGuiness, and many other ROH officials who believe Ortiz is among the odds on favorites to win the Top Prospect Tournament and secure a ROH contract!
