Jay Lethal vs. Donovan Dijak für „ROH / NJPW War Of The Worlds Tour“ Event am 11. Mai 2016 in Toronto, Ontario, Kanada offiziell bestätigt

The Main Event is signed for Toronto and fans at the Ted Reeve Arena will be in for a first-time match-up between the ROH World Champion and a man hell-bent on destroying him that has been over one year in the making!

ROH WORLD CHAMPION JAY LETHAL w/TAELER HENDRIX vs. DONOVAN DIJAK w/PRINCE NANA

Donovan Dijak burst onto to the professional wrestling scene in 2015, winning the Top Prospect Tournament with three straight victories. When it came time to cash in on his ROH World Television Championship shot that he earned through the Top Prospect Tournament, Truth Martini had other plans: offer Dijak the opportunity to forgo his shot at then-champion Jay Lethal to instead join the House of Truth.

For Martini, having the 6’7” Dijak join the House of Truth was simply a no-brainer: oozing with potential, the former two-star sport in college was the definition of a blue chipper, reaching ROH very shortly after making his professional wrestling debut. It also allowed the crown jewel of the HoT, Lethal, to avoid a title defense against Dijak.

Throughout most of 2015 and early 2016, Martini had Dijak focus his efforts on competing for the ROH World Tag Team championships with his partner Joey “Diesel” Daddiego and protecting Lethal. When Lethal defeated Jay Briscoe for the ROH World Championship at Best in the World in June 2015, Dijak was the first to congratulate Lethal.

With two championships in tow, Daddiego and Dijak’s roles became even more important but both sacrificed opportunities at singles glory to ensure stability around the ROH World Title. In Nashville, following a losing tag team effort, Prince Nana slipped a mysterious envelop to Dijak. In Philadelphia, following another tag team loss, Martini had enough and fired Dijak.

Little did Martini know that Dijak was about to quit and left the HoT laying!

In Las Vegas, Dijak and Nana made their intentions known with their actions speaking louder than words: Dijak hospitalized Truth Martini and proceeded to tell the world that he would dissolve the House of Truth by taking out one member at a time.

It was again in Philadelphia four months later where Dijak made his intentions known. Not knowing Dijak was in the building, Daddiego viciously attacked Will Ferrara with a chair while yelling that this is what Dijak could expect. Unfamiliar music blared and Dijak, with Prince Nana by his side, ran to the ring. Dijak and Daddiego brawled in Dallas and Daddiego injured Dijak’s ribs in San Antonio before Dijak defeated Daddiego in convincing fashion with the “Feast Your Eyes” in West Warwick.

After a successful defense against Vinny Marseglia, Dijak emerged to prevent a post-match beatdown of Marseglia! While Prince Nana pulled Taeler Hendrix away from Marseglia, Dijak got his hands on the only male member of the HoT still standing and laid him out with a “Feast Your Eyes”! Dijak stood tall over Lethal as Nana draped the ROH World Championship on his shoulder!

Following a year of waiting, Dijak finally receives a title opportunity against Lethal! To Lethal’s credit, he has not avoided the challenge, perhaps a deviation in strategy with Martini on the shelf. One of the fightingest champions in ROH history, Lethal has signed to face Dijak in Toronto!

Dijak has said that, while the ROH World Championship is the most prestigious in the world, he will face Lethal in Toronto regardless if Lethal leaves Global Wars champion or not! This is the main event of Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s return to the Ted Reeve Arena in Toronto!
