ROH „Glory By Honor“ (14.10. – Chicago Ridge, Illinois): First Time Match offiziell bestätigt
Ring Of Honor hat nun für das ROH „Glory By Honor“ Event am Freitag, den 14. Oktober 2016 in Chicago Ridge, Illinois ein Match zwischen Matt Sydal und Kamaitachi offiziell bestätigt.
First Time Match
„Reborn“ Matt Sydal vs. Kamaitachi
Nachfolgend die offizielle Mitteilung von Ring Of Honor:
“Reborn” Matt Sydal has been flying high in New Japan Pro-Wrestling in recent months, but he hasn’t forgotten about his fans in ROH.
Sydal and his array of gravity-defying aerial maneuvers will touchdown in ROH for five shows next month. He’ll be making stops in Chicago Ridge and Dearborn, Mich,. on Oct. 14th and 15th; Ft. Lauderdale, Fla,. and Lakeland, Fla., on Oct. 21st and 22nd.
Sydal, who hasn’t competed in the U.S. for ROH since May, has had quite an impressive run in NJPW.
Representing ROH in the Super J Cup, which featured top competitors from promotions around the world, Sydal made it to the semifinals on Aug. 21 in Tokyo after defeating Kaji Tomato and British sensation Will Oespray in the earlier rounds.
The previous month, Sydal, Ricochet and Satoshi Kojima won the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship from Bullet Club’s Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson).
Making an impact in NJPW is nothing new for Sydal, who also won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Title with Ricochet on two occasions earlier this year.
During Sydal’s first trip to Japan for NJPW in 2015, he and Ricochet won the Super Jr. Tag Tournament by defeating three of the top tag teams in the sport in succession: The Time Splitters (Alex Shelley and Kushida), The Young Bucks and Roppongi Vice (Beretta and Rocky Romero).
Despite all his success in NJPW, Sydal has long considered ROH his home.
He made his ROH debut back in 2004 and engaged in a memorable rivalry with Delirious that spanned several years. In 2006, Sydal joined forces with Christopher Daniels to win the ROH World Tag Team Title from The Kings of Wrestling (Claudio Castagnoli and Chris Hero).
Sydal decided to spread his wings during the latter part of 2007, when he left ROH to wrestle for various promotion around the world before returning seven years later.
During Sydal’s stint with WWE, superstar John Cena said in a radio interview that Sydal “has so much to offer the business. When the bell rings, he’s one of the most entertaining people to watch on the planet.”
When Sydal came back to ROH in 2014, he picked up right where he left off, competing in crowd-pleasing matches against the likes of AJ Styles, Adam Cole and Jay Lethal. Sydal also formed a successful tag team with ACH.
Sydal, who holds victories over former ROH World Champions Kevin Steen, Tyler Black, El Generico, Jay Briscoe, Austin Aries and Davey Richards, added Cole — the two-time and current ROH World Champion — to that list this past February.
The win over Cole helped Sydal earn a shot at then-ROH World Champion Jay Lethal in March. Sydal pushed Lethal to the limit in a memorable match before ultimately coming up short.
Never one to look back, Sydal remains focused on his future, including his upcoming return to ROH.
We are happy to announce that Matt Sydal’s first match back will be Friday, October 14th, in Chicago Ridge, Il as part of Glory By Honor Weekend, where he will face Kamaitachi in a First Time Match.
As is always the case with Sydal, it’s onward and (especially) upward.
