ROH World Championship Match für ROH TV-Tapings am 25. Juni 2016 in Concord, North Carolina offiziell bestätigt

Whoever wins that showdown will truly be able to call himself the best in the world, but he won’t have long to bask in the glory of his victory.

Twenty-four hours later, at aRing of Honor Wrestling TV taping in Concord, N.C., either Lethal or Briscoe will put the ROH World Title on the line against Kyle O’Reilly.

O’Reilly, a three-time co-holder of the ROH World Tag Team Title, has come extremely close on multiple occasions to realizing his dream of winning the ROH World Championship, and he poses a serious threat to the title regardless of whom the champion is.

He’s riding a wave of momentum after pinning Lethal in a tag team match recently in Dearborn, Mich., in which reDRagon (O’Reilly and Bobby Fish) defeated Lethal and IWGP Heavyweight Champion Tetsuya Naito.

The last time O’Reilly challenged for the world title was in a three-way match against Lethal and Adam Cole at the 14th Anniversary Show in February. It seemed like it was going to be O’Reilly’s night, but the resilient Lethal ended up retaining the championship by pinning Cole.

O’Reilly also appeared to be on the verge of defeating Lethal for the ROH World Title at All-Star Extravaganza in September, but O’Reilly’s nemesis and former tag team partner Cole interfered and cost him the match.

O’Reilly is no stranger to Briscoe either, as they have met in tag team action several times. In fact, during a tag match in 2015, reDRagon defeated the unlikely tandem of Briscoe and Lethal when O’Reilly forced Lethal to tap out to the Fujiwara Armbar.

With Lethal and Briscoe now laser-focused on each other as they gear up for what figures to be a match for the ages at Best in the World, O’Reilly may have his best opportunity yet to become ROH World Champion.

A similar situation occurred recently with the ROH World Tag Team Title. Then-champions War Machine had said that they couldn’t consider themselves true champions until they defeated Jay and Mark Briscoe.

War Machine finally attained that elusive victory over the Briscoes at the Global Wars pay-per-view on May 8th, but the match took its toll on both teams. The very next night, War Machine lost the title to The Addiction.

Will history repeat itself? Will the ROH World Title change hands once or even twice within a span of 24 hours?
