Ring Of Honor hat nun für die ROH TV-Tapings am Samstag, den 20. August 2016 ein ROH World Television Championship Match zwischen entweder Bobby Fish oder Mark Briscoe (c) und Katsuyori Shibata offiziell bestätigt.

On Sat. Aug. 20th, one night after the DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR XIV PAY PER VIEW in Las Vegas, the stars from RING OF HONOR and NEW JAPAN PRO-WRESTLING will return to Sin City to do battle in a national television taping with truly global implications.

The partnership between ROH and NJPW continues to grow each day. Fans of both companies have requested and thought of dream matches that they would like to see on both sides of the pacific.

ROH Matchmaker Nigel McGuinness has just announced the following championship match:

ROH WORLD TELEVISION TITLE
KATSUYORI SHIBATA VS. BOBBY FISH OR MARK BRISCOE

NEVER Openweight Champion Katsuyori Shibata will have an opportunity to become a dual titleholder when he faces the winner of the ROH World Television Title Match between defending champion Bobby Fish and Mark Briscoe, who square off the night before at the Death Before Dishonor XIV Pay Per View.

Shibata, a hard-hitting, no-nonsense competitor, is perhaps the most requested NJPW star in history. The second-generation wrestler has held the NEVER Openweight Title since June, when he regained it from Yuji Nagata.

Shibata captured that title for the first time back in January, when he defeated Tomohiro Ishii. A month later, Ishii went on to win the ROH World Television Title from Roderick Strong to become the first TV champion to defend the title primarily outside the U.S.

If Shibata is to become the second, he’ll have to defeat either Fish or Mark Briscoe, a tall order no matter which one of them walks into the ring as ROH World Television Champion to defend against Shibata.

Fish has been an impressive champion since taking the title from Ishii in May. Briscoe, currently one-half of the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions and a former eight-time ROH World Tag Team Champion with his brother Jay, is determined to put singles gold around his waist.

July 20th could be a very busy night for Mark Briscoe. As previously announced here on ROHWrestling.com, regardless of the outcome at Death Before Dishonor, Mark and Jay Briscoe have already signed to face Jay White and Lio Rush in tag team competition.

Whether it’s Shibata vs. Fish or Shibata vs. Briscoe, fans can expect a physical, intense and potentially history-making ROH World Television Title Match in Las Vegas.
