The Briscoes (Mark & Jay Briscoe) (c) vs. Jay White & Lio Rush

Nachfolgend die offizielle Mitteilung von Ring Of Honor:

On Sat. Aug. 20th, one night after the DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR XIV PAY PER VIEW in Las Vegas, the stars from RING OF HONOR and NEW JAPAN PRO-WRESTLING will return to Sin City to do battle in a national television taping with truly global implications.

The partnership between ROH and NJPW continues to grow each day. Fans of both companies have requested and thought of dream matches that they would like to see on both sides of the pacific.

ROH Matchmaker Nigel McGuinness has just announced the following match:

THE BRISCOES vs LIO RUSH AND JAY WHITE

It will be a classic match-up of experience vs. youth when eight-time former ROH World Tag Team Champions Jay and Mark Briscoe take on rising stars Lio Rush and Jay White.

Despite being two of the most accomplished competitors in ROH history, the Briscoes are just now entering their primes. It’s not often that they don’t have some type of gold around their waists, as they are the current IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions.

Speaking of gold, Mark Briscoe just might be doing double duty on Aug. 20th in Las Vegas. If he is able to defeat Bobby Fish for the ROH World Television Title the night before at the Death Before Dishonor XIV Pay Per View, he will be defending his newly won championship in addition to competing in this tag team match.

Rush and White undoubtedly face a daunting task in their first match as a team, but they’ve already shown that they can more than hold their own against the best wrestlers in the world.

Rush, the 2016 Top Prospect Tournament winner, pushed ROH World Champion Jay Lethal to the limit in Rush’s first official match in ROH in April.

On a recent episode of Ring of Honor Wrestling, White — who spent a year and a half competing in New Japan Pro-Wrestling and training at the NJPW dojo — defeated Kamaitachi in a singles match and then went on to pin veteran Christopher Daniels in a six-man tag match in which White and The Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) beat ROH World Tag Team Champions The Addiction (Daniels and Frankie Kazarian) and Kamaitachi.

Rush and White have been in the ring together once before, but it was as opponents. White scored a hard-fought victory over Rush in a show-stealing match at Aftershock last month in Baltimore.
