– Wie Variety berichtet, wird die WWE im Rahmen der Zusammenarbeit zwischen WWE Studios und Lionsgate noch in diesem Monat mit den Dreharbeiten zu einem neuen Actionfilm namens „Lockdown“ beginnen, in dem WWE Superstar Dean Ambrose die Hauptrolle spielen wird.\u00a0<\/span>

\u201cLockdown\u201d will become the second action film that WWE Studios and Lionsgate will co-produce and release through their \u201csix-pack\u201d movie deal.<\/p>\n

WWE star Jonathan Good, known in the ring as Dean Ambrose, will headline the film, to be directed by Stephen Reynolds (\u201cTomb Raider: Ascension\u201d). Production starts this month.<\/p>\n

Good, who made his debut on WWE\u2019s main roster in 2012, has generated a major fan following after breaking out as a member of the group The Shield, and quickly proved his abilities on the mic and in story lines in and outside of the ring. WWE is now betting that he may be able to cross over into films, as well. \u201cLockdown\u201d will be his first starring role in a movie.<\/p>\n

Written by Nathan Brooks and Bobby Lee Darby (\u201cSee No Evil 2\u00e2\u20ac\u00b3), \u201cLockdown\u201d follows a police officer who finds himself trapped inside his own precinct and hunted after crooked cops stop at nothing to recover incriminating evidence of illegal activities against those closest to him.<\/p>\n

The film follows \u201cVendetta,\u201d that stars the Big Show and is directed by Jen and Sylvia Soska (\u201cSee No Evil 2\u00e2\u20ac\u00b3), while \u201cLeprechaun: Origins,\u201d which Lionsgate is also distributing with a limited release in theaters before hitting homevideo platforms, was part of an earlier deal.<\/p>\n

\u201cLeprechaun: Origins\u201d had initially been intended for direct to home entertainment platforms on Aug. 26, but will now also give the film a limited release in theaters on Aug. 22, after a presentation for the film was well received at Comic-Con in San Diego.<\/p>\n

\u201cLockdown will continue to energize and excite with the high level of adrenaline our fans have come to expect from our films,\u201d said WWE Studios president Michael Luisi.<\/p>\n

The list of movies Lionsgate and WWE have produced together is now growing considerably after starting with \u201cStone Cold\u201d Steve Austin-starrer \u201cThe Condemned,\u201d as well as horror pic \u201cSee No Evil.\u201d<\/p>\n

The six new action films are meant to showcase WWE talent in starring roles and help incubate new talent, WWE and Lionsgate said when making the deal in May.<\/p>\n

Lionsgate sparked to the idea of being able to market the movies to WWE\u2019s fanbase that watches its weekly TV shows and pay-per-views, as well as visits its websites and subscribes to its digital network.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re proud to continue our long-standing partnership with WWE Studios, whose prowess in marketing to their global fan base delivers a consistent track record of commercial success,\u201d said Lionsgate co-chief operating officer and motion picture group president Steve Beeks.<\/p>\n

WWE Studios also released horror entry \u201cOculus,\u201d this summer, together with Relativity and Jason Blum, and a direct-to-homevid \u201cScooby-Doo\u201d movie set at \u201cWrestleMania\u201d with Warner Home Video.<\/em><\/strong><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Allgemein hinterlie\u00df es in den vergangenen Wochen vermehrt den Eindruck, als w\u00fcrde man einige der neuen Gimmicks bzw. neueren Charaktere bewusst beiseite schieben, um den Fokus voll und ganz auf die Matchcard vom WWE SummerSlam 2014 zu lenken. Ob die besagten neuen Gimmicks bzw. neueren Charaktere nach dem WWE SummerSlam 2014 wieder vermehrt in den Fokus der Shows r\u00fccken werden, bleibt abzuwarten. Bez\u00fcglich Cesaro wird vermeldet, dass sich Vince McMahon laut einer WWE Quelle weiterhin nicht ganz einig sein soll, ob Cesaro nun gepusht werden soll, oder nicht und beschreibt die Gem\u00fctslage des WWE Chairman als st\u00e4ndiges „Auf und Ab“. So soll er Cesaro in der einen Woche pushen wollen, w\u00e4hrend er in der anderen Woche wiederum das Interesse an ihm verliert und seinen Push vorerst bis auf weiteres wieder auf Eis legt. Als kleine Randnotiz sei vermerkt, dass Cesaro am vergangenen Montag bei RAW bewusst von Vince McMahon wegen seiner guten „Mat Skills“ eingesetzt worden ist, um Jack Swagger vor dem WWE SummerSlam 2014 mit einem Sieg „over“ zu bringen.<\/span>
