WWE „Saturday Night Main Event“ kehrt noch in diesem Jahr zurück

Als Teil des neuen 5-Jahres-Vertrages mit NBC Universal wird WWE’s „Saturday Night Main Event“ ab dem 14. Dezember 2024 quartalsweise ins Programm zurückkehren. Die erste Episode wird im Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, New York stattfinden.

Am 11. Mai 1985 wurde die erste Ausgabe ausgestrahlt. An diesem Abend verteidigte u.a. WWF Champion Hulk Hogan seinen Titel gegen Bob Orton, Wendi Richter den WWF Women’s Championtitel gegen die Fabulous Moolah und Barry Windham, Mike Rotundo & Ricky Steamboat besiegten The Iron Shiek, Nikolai Volkoff & George Steele in einem 6-Man Tag Team Match. Das Konzept wurde von 1985 bis 1992 umgesetzt und feierte 2006-2008 ein Comeback.

September 17, 2024 – WWE and NBC announce the return of the iconic Saturday Night’s Main Event, which will air live on Saturday, December 14 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and simulcast on Peacock. The special will be held at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island, N.Y., the site of the first-ever Saturday Night’s Main Event.

This marks the first primetime special, which will air quarterly on NBC and Peacock, as part of WWE’s new, five-year domestic media rights partnership with NBCUniversal, which officially kicked off last Friday with SmackDown on USA Network.

Saturday Night’s Main Event originally premiered on NBC in May of 1985.
