November 2016 beim WrestleCade "Showcase Of Champions"-Event in Winston-Salem, North Carolina überraschend den amtierenden Global Force Wrestling NEX*GEN Champion Sonjay Dutt besiegt und ihm den Titel abgenommen. Somit ist Cody Rhodes neuer GFW NEX*GEN Champion.
