In der aktuellen SmackDown! LIVE-Episode in Buffalo, New York (26. Juli 2016) wurde das dritte Match für den WWE SummerSlam 2016 am Sonntag, den 21. August 2016 im Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York offiziell bestätigt. So wird Dolph Ziggler ein WWE World Championship Match gegen den amtierenden WWE World Champion Dean Ambrose bestreiten, nachdem sich Dolph Ziggler bei SmackDown! LIVE in Buffalo, New York in einer Six-Pack Challenge erfolgreich gegen John Cena, AJ Styles, Bray Wyatt, Baron Corbin und Apollo Crews durchsetzen konnte.
